    The working principle of a fractional CO2 laser

    To talk about lasers, we must refer to this treasure map, as it is the theoretical basis of all laser devices.

    The blue curve in the diagram shows the absorption curve of water for laser light with two absorption peaks at 2940 nm and 10600 nm.

    10,600 nm is the wavelength of CO2 lasers, which has never changed. Only technical parameters such as the output mode, power, and pulse width have changed. Therefore, the effect of CO2 lasers on tissue is the same as the effect on water.

    Basic principles:

    Peeling and reconstruction of the epidermis

    When the energy density and pulse width of CO2 lasers reach certain values, one pulse of CO2 laser can exfoliate and vaporize 20 µm of skin tissue.

    2. Stimulation of collagen neogenesis

    When laser light is emitted in a scanning fractional pattern on the epidermis, a burn zone is created with laser action points and intervals. The laser can penetrate directly into the dermis at each point, instantly vaporizing epidermal tissue, stimulating collagen regeneration, and activating biological reactions that restore and restructure collagen fibers.
